NORWOOD - The Corning Incorporated Foundation has granted the Norwood Village Green Concert Series $1,000 in support of its recently completed 40th anniversary season. The Foundation has been a consistent, valued, and major supporter of the series for many years allowing the series to present its wide ranging concert fare to its audiences in an outdoor community setting.

Through the Corning Incorporated Foundation’s support of cultural outreach programs, the Foundation strengthens environments where creative thinking, innovation and enrichment occur.

Support goes to institutions that are tax-exempt under Section 501c3 of the Internal Revenue Code and which are public charities as defined in Section 509(a) of the Code.

Wide ranges of categories are funded such as Educational, Community Service and Cultural. Each year, the Corning Incorporated Foundation provides assistance to institutions such as arts organizations, libraries, museums and public broadcasting stations in the cultural category.

With the addition of the Corning Incorporated Foundation’s in support of the 2013 season, the Norwood Village Green Concert Series is in a strong position to program the 2014 edition of the series, its 41st annual season. A good foundation for building the next season’s series of concerts has been created.

The task of programming for 2014 has been completed and will be highlighted with a first-ever three day chamber music festival within the series, a return of one of the most awarded bluegrass bands of the current era, members of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra’s percussion section, another outstanding soloist with the All Star Big Band, a world music super group from Toronto, an Irish diva, and a conservatory fueled Russian klezmer ensemble featuring the concert cembola.

In addition, nine regional and local favorites will be performing.

It will begin as always, with the St. Lawrence County Music Educators Association Pop Choral/Stage Band Festival the first Thursday after Memorial Day.
