Two Democratic candidates for the Jefferson County Board of Legislators were endorsed Monday by Service Employees International Union Local 200 United.

Michael F. Astafan, D-Carthage, who is running as the incumbent for the District 6 seat, was endorsed, along with Donna J. Bohn, who is running for the District 10 seat.

Mr. Astafan is running against Jonathan L. Hirschey, who is campaigning on the Republican, Independence and Conservative lines.

Mrs. Bohn will face Jeremiah J. Maxon in November. Mr. Maxon is running on the Republican, Independence and Conservative lines. The two will be competing for the seat soon to be vacated by longtime Legislator Michael W. Behling, R-Adams.

The board’s only other Democrat, Allen T. Drake, D-Theresa, is running unopposed for the board’s District 4 seat. He said Monday that he did not seek the union’s endorsement.
