NAC soccer: Gouverneur edges Canton; Hammond kicks Edwards-Knox

GOUVERNEUR — Bell Hall scored the game-winning goal in the 65th minute as Gouverneur edged Canton, 2-1 in a Northern Athletic Conference Central Division girls soccer game Monday.

Emily Bush picked up the assist on the goal. Danielle McCormick tied the game on a indirect kick in the 23rd minute for the Wildcats (5-2 overall, 4-2 league).

Goalkeeper Taylor Andrews stopped 14 shots for Gouverneur.

Emma Pinckney scored in the second minute for the Golden Bears (6-3, 3-3).

PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTON 3, MADRID-WADDINGTON 2

Brianna Hayes scored a goal and assisted on two others as the Panthers edged the Yellowjackets in an NAC East Division game.

Kodi Perkins contributed a goal and an assist for Parishville-Hopkinton (7-2, 4-2). Marlee Wilson made four saves for the Panthers.

Blake Orosz and Kaleigh Field each scored for Madrid-Waddington (2-6-1, 2-5).

COLTON-PIERREPONT 6, ST. REGIS FALLS 0

Morgan Doyle scored three goals to pace the Colts to an NAC East triumph in South Colton.

Kathryn Miller made two saves to post the shutout for Colton-Pierrepont (3-5, 2-4).

Madison Gregg, Andrea Aldous and Hailey Hennessy struck for single goals for the Colts.

CHATEAUGAY 5, ST. LAWRENCE CENTRAL 2

Danielle Charland scored twice and assisted on two goals to spark the Bulldogs past the Larries in an NAC East game at Chateaugay.

Hannah Cook contributed a pair of goals for Chateaugay (7-0-1, 6-0).

Lindsey Thayer tallied a goal and an assist for St. Lawrence (2-7, 2-5).

TUPPER LAKE 0, BRUSHTON-MORIA 0

Ashley Debeer made 20 saves for the host Panthers (6-1-1), and Brooke Dewyea registered 15 saves for Tupper Lake (4-1-1, 4-3-1) as the two teams finished in a draw.

LISBON 4, HERMON-DEKALB 0

Beth Crowley scored to break a scoreless tie with 12 seconds left in the first half and the Golden Knights cruised to a West Division victory over the Demons (5-2) at Lisbon.

Crowley scored again in the second half, and Madie Vine finished with a goal and two assists for Lisbon (6-0-2).

MORRISTOWN 0, HARRISVILLE 0

Abby LaFaver made 19 saves for the Pirates (2-4-2) to deny the Green Rockets their first victory of the season in a West Division game in Morristown.

Samantha Green stopped 14 shots for Morristown (0-5-2).

MASSENA 3, SALMON RIVER 0

Iastha Porter scored twice to lead the host Red Raiders to a Central Division victory over the Shamrocks (2-5) at Mike Nicholas Field.

Serena Hall also scored and Bailie Young made four saves for Massena (3-4).

MALONE 6, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 0

Abigail Collins and Gabrielle Collins each finished with two goals and an assist as the Huskies shut out the Flyers (0-8, 0-7) in a Central Division game at Malone.

Annie Sharlow added a pair of goals for Malone (7-1-1, 6-0-1).

POTSDAM 4, OFA 0

Annette Rische scored twice and goalie Bre Sapp extended her streak of shutouts to send the Sandstoners to a Central Division victory over the Blue Devils (2-7, 2-6) in Ogdensburg.

Kalie Grant and Savarah Aidun each added a goal and Ally Miller finished with two assists for Potsdam (8-0-1, 6-0-1).

Sapp has played all nine games in goal for the Sandstoners and has yet to allow a goal.

HAMMOND 4, EDWARDS-KNOX 1

The Red Devils, ranked No. 17 in the state in Class D, scored three unanswered goals in a nine-minute span in the second half to capture a West Division game over the visiting Cougars (1-5).

Emily Bush, Courtney Bova and Mikayla Horton scored between minutes 54 and 63 for Hammond (7-1, 6-1).

HEUVELTON 8, CLIFTON-FINE 0

Alexis Weidner scored three goals as the Bulldogs routed the Eagles (0-6) in a West Division game at Star Lake.

Miranda Donnelly scored twice, and Maddie St. Pierre provided two assists for Heuvelton (7-0-2, 6-0-1).

LISBON 5, HERMON-DEKALB 1

Adam Kelley scored his NAC high 15th goal and passed out two assists as the Knights downed the Demons in an NAC West game.

Lisbon climbed to 6-1-1. Jake Putney also delivered one goal and two assists for the Knights who led 4-1 at halftime.

Cody James, Coleman Smith and Koby Jordan also scored for the Knights in support of Izac Sovie, who made two saves to record the win.

Pat Woodrow scored for Hermon-DeKalb (1-5-1).

VOLLEYBALL

POTSDAM 3, SALMON RIVER 0

Raven Oakes served up eight points to pace the Sandstoners to an NAC victory over the Shamrocks in Potsdam.

Potsdam (8-1) defeated Salmon River (5-4) by scores of 25-17, 25-17, 25-18.

MALONE 3, CANTON 0

The Huskies ran their winning streak to four by besting the Golden Bears in a NAC West Division match in Malone.

Malone prevailed by scores of 25-14, 25-12, 25-12.

Sarah Benware paced the Huskies (8-1) with 12 service points and a pair of kills, while Karissa Beaudry contributed 11 points, three aces and 11 assists.

Brooke Peck added to the Huskies’ effort with an eight-point, two-ace, 10-assist game. Janelle Heden followed with seven service points, six of which were aces, and had eight kills.
