CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - MASSENA - A 19-year-old Massena man who reportedly became infuriated early Monday evening when his mother asked him as he was sitting on the front porch if he had returned his job applications ended up spending his night in the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility.
Village police charged Dennis J. Stephenson, 19, of 67 Parker Ave., Massena, with second-degree harassment, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of marijuana and two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief.
Stephenson reportedly started throwing items around the residence, breaking glass and ripping pans off the stove while dinner was being cooked during the argument with his mother, Shannon R. Price.
Police said they responded to the Parker Avenue residence at 5:31 p.m. Monday after a complaint of a 911 hangup call and saw Stephenson walking in the backyard. They said he refused to comply with orders to stop and started shouting obscenities and vulgarities, opting not to obey several requests to alter his behavior.
He was transported to Massena Memorial Hospital for treatment of a small laceration to his finger before being arraigned by Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $500 cash or $1,000 bond.
