CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - MASSENA - A 42-year-old Massena man was released under the supervision of the probation department after being charged with causing nearly $1,000 in damages at his residence during a domestic dispute Tuesday morning at his residence.
Village police charged Kenneth A. Grose of 7 North Clarkson Ave., Massena, with a felony count of third-degree criminal mischief, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and a second-degree harassment violation.
He was arraigned by Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson and released under the supervision of the probation department with a stipulation he abide by the terms of a no contact order of protection directing him to stay away from his wife, Jana.
Mr. Grose was reportedly upset about his brother and niece and nephew staying at his residence and started arguing about the situation with his wife. She told police he threw a cell phone at her and then went upstairs, grabbed his cell phone and broke it by throwing in on the ground.
Ken then went into the kitchen and grabbed two of the kitchen chairs and broke them on the ground, then went in the kitchen and broke more things. Then he went into the living room and swipted everything off the wine cabinet and broke a lot of wine bottles, flower vases and other things, Ms. Grose noted in the statement she provided police, estimating damage to be in the $800 range.
She said something hit her in the face during the acts of vandalism but she didnt know what it was.
Mr. Grose reportedly then grabbed her purse and left the house. He got into his truck but was unable to leave because police responding to the domestic dispute call blocked his vehicle in the driveway. He hopped out of his vehicle and led police on a short chase before being taken into custody.
