MASSENA — Keitha A. Durant, 24, of 171 Water St. Apt. 1, was arrested by village police at 10:05 a.m. Monday at her residence following a domestic dispute in which police say she lit her boyfriend’s bed comforter on fire with a lighter, then tried to break his cellphone.

Police said Ms. Durant also punched Andrew Rafter in the face and broke a stereo speaker in the kitchen. She then took two children, ages 1 and 3, and temporarily left the residence, police said. She was arrested when she returned shortly after police arrived.

Ms. Durant was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree harassment, fourth-degree criminal mischief, fifth-degree arson, second-degree reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of marijuana.

She was arraigned in Massena Village Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $750 bail or $1,500 bond.
