Potsdam keeper silences Gouverneur

GOUVERNEUR — Bre Sapp made four saves to lead the Potsdam girls soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Gouverneur (3-2 overall, 2-2 division) in a Northern Athletic Conference Central Division game Tuesday.

Savarah Aidun scored the first goal for Potsdam (6-0-1 overall, 4-0-1 league) in the 15th minute. Kalie Grant scored in the 70th minute.

CANTON 4, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 0

Emily Pinckney scored twice as the Golden Bears defeated the Flyers (0-6, 0-5) in a Central Division game in Canton.

Kali Frank and Tori Daley also scored for Canton (5-1, 4-1), and Katie Clemmer made five saves for the shutout.

MASSENA 2, OFA 0

Bailey Young made two saves to shut out the Blue Devils (1-6, 1-5), leading the Red Raiders to a Central Division win in Massena.

Iestha Porter scored both goals for Massena (3-4, 2-3).

MALONE 2, SALMON RIVER 0

The Huskies scored once in each half and shut out the Shamrocks (2-5, 2-3) in a Central Division game in Malone.

Morgan Fountain scored an unassisted goal for Malone (5-1-1, 4-0-1) in the first half, and Hannah Perry scored off a pass from Alyssa Tatro in the second half.

CHATEAUGAY 6,

MADRID-WADDINGTON 0

Hannah Cook scored two goals and assisted on two as the Bulldogs beat the Yellowjackets (1-4-1, 1-3) in an East Division game in Chateaugay.

Alicia Cook, Danielle Charland, Haylee Tower and Katie Beach also scored for Chateaugay (5-0, 4-0).

BRUSHTON-MOIRA 4, ST. LAWRENCE 1

Kendra Mills scored the go-ahead goal in the 53rd minute as the Panthers (5-1, 4-1) won an East Division game in Brushton.

Kenzie Traynor scored twice and Jenna Dufrane also scored for Brushton-Moira. Jerika Francis scored the first goal of the game for the Larries (1-5, 1-4).

HERMON-DEKALB 6, CLIFTON-FINe 0

Brooke Woodrow scored twice and assisted on another goal as the Demons beat the Eagles (0-4) in a West Division game in Star Lake.

Bridget Rust, Rhys Bryant, Morgan Scott and Paige Whitton also scored for Hermon-DeKalb (5-1).

EDWARDs-KNOX 3, MORRISTOWN 2 (OT)

Edwards-Knox scored twice in the first overtime period to defeat Morristown (0-4-1) in a West Division contest in Morristown.

Darien Fenton and Harleigh LeBarge scored in the first overtime for Edwards-Knox (1-4). LeBarge also scored in regulation.

Elizabeth Troiano and Jessica Geddes scored for Morristown.

BOYS SOCCER

POTSDAM 2, MASSENA 0

Two goals just two minutes apart sent the Sandstoners past the Red Raiders (3-5) in a nonleague game in Potsdam.

Dylan Gruneisen scored in the 30th minute for Potsdam (4-4) and Dan Vitek added a goal two minutes later.

HERMON-DEKALB 3, CLIFTON-FINE 2

Ryan Brown scored in the 73rd minute to give the Demons (1-6, 1-4) a victory in a West Division game in DeKalb Junction.

Brown also scored for the Demons in the 28th minute. Cameron Hance also scored for Hermon-DeKalb.

Alberto Rubio and D’Andre Croker scored for the Eagles (0-7-1, 0-6).

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

FLYERS REMAIN PERFECT

Kaycie Saucier finished in first overall as Norwood-Norfolk (4-0) defeated Gouverneur 23-35 and Potsdam 23-36 in a double-dual meet in Norwood. Gouverneur (3-1) edged the Sandstoners 27-28.

Saucier was followed by teammate Hannah Gray, and Madi Dow finished third for Potsdam (0-3).

CANTON WINS TWO

Laura Pierce was the overall winner as the Golden Bears (3-1) defeated incomplete Tupper Lake and Salmon River squads in Tupper Lake. Carly Whiteford was second for Canton followed by Mackenzie Knowlden. Tess Klossner finished fourth for the Lumberjacks (0-3). Salmon River fell to 0-2.

HUSKIES SWEEP

Madeleine Champagne finished in third place overall to lead the Huskies (4-0) to 20-35 wins over host Ogdensburg Free Academy and Brushton-Moira in a double-dual meet. Brushton-Moira (1-3) defeated OFA 25-30.

Sarah Mitchell was the overall winner for OFA (1-3), and Brushton-Moira’s Veronica Stauffer finished second.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

NORWOOD-NORFOLK WINS TWICE

The host Flyers (4-0) broke a tie with the fastest No. 6 runner to pick up a win over Gouverneur in a 28-28 final. Norwood-Norfolk also defeated Potsdam 17-45. The Wildcats gained a 17-46 victory over Potsdam (1-3).

Luke Dunkelberg was the overall winner for Gouverneur (3-1), followed by teammate Jake Erdman. Kyle Fulk was third overall to lead the Flyers.

LUMBERJACKS GAIN TWO

Anson Gagnier finished first overall to lead host Tupper Lake (3-1) to a 22-37 win over Canton and a win over an incomplete team from Salmon River (0-4).

Darren Ricalton finished second to lead Canton (2-2), and Tupper Lake’s Broyce Guerrette was third.

MALONE STAYS UNDEFEATED

Dylan LaVoie finished in second and Will Bronner was third as the Huskies (4-0) defeated host OFA 20-35 and Brushton-Moira 15-50 in Ogdensburg. OFA produced a 16-39 win over the Panthers (0-4).

Donnie Smith was the overall winner to lead the Blue Devils (1-3).

GIRLS SWIMMING

POTSDAM 101, MALONE 68

Emma Kroll and Ariana Frascatore each won two events to lead the Sandstoners past the Huskies (1-3) in a dual meet at Clarkson.

Kroll won the 200-meter individual medley and the 100 freestyle for Potsdam (3-1). Frascatore provided wins in the 200 freestyle and the 400 freestyle.

CANTON 104, EDWARDs-KNOX 52

Angelina Domena was a two-event winner as the Golden Bears defeated the Cougars (1-2) in Canton.

Domena won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 freestyle for Canton (3-0).

VOLLEYBALL

CHATEAUGAY 3, POTSDAM 2

Caitlin Miller scored 17 points with 12 assists and 11 kills to lead the Bulldogs (7-0) to a 15-25, 25-15, 15-25, 25-20, 25-10 win over Potsdam in a nonleague match in Chateaugay.

Sarah Vivlamore led Potsdam (6-1, 5-1) with 14 points and Victoria Mondragan scored 10 points with seven kills.

CANTON 3, MASSENA 1

Megan Howard scored 12 points and Beth Pearson added 11 as the Golden Bears (3-4) picked up a 25-15, 21-25, 25-21, 25-18 victory over Massena in a nonleague match in Canton.

Samantha Villnave paced the Red Raiders (4-3) with 12 points and four kills.

SALMON RIVER 3,

EDWARDS-KNOX 1

Raven Oakes scored 18 points with five kills to lead Salmon River to a 25-15, 25-23, 16-25, 25-11 win over Edwards-Knox (2-5, 2-4) in a nonleague match in Russell. Iakohonwentsiawakon Mitchell scored 15 points for the Shamrocks (4-3).
