POTSDAM - The Potsdam Central varsity girls swim team pulled away to a 128-37 win over Gouverneur in an NAC Division II meet staged at the Clarkson University pool on Friday.
Emma Kroll and Emma Visser anchored the winning effort with two individual first-place finishes as the Lady Sandstoners claimed top honors in all but one event. Kroll led the 200IM in 3:06 and the 100 butterfly in 1:32.01 while Visser paced the 50 freestyle in 31.98 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 1:13.79.
Also notching solo wins for Potsdam (2-1) were Kelsey Sixberry in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:29.87, Ariana Frascatore in the 400 freestyle with a time of 5:53.64 and Alexis Peterson in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:47.16.
The Lady Sandstoners won all three relay races starting with the 200 medley where Peterson combined with Amanda Dillon, Marissa Brown and Cristy Stoian to post a time of 2:53.75. Frascatore, Kroll and Visser teamed up with Kathryn Blanchard to lead both the 200 freestyle relay in 2:15.24 and the 400 freestyle relay in 5:07.76.
Jordon McCloud captured the 100 backstroke in 1:40.74 to account for the lone Gouverneur win.
In other NAC swim meets on Friday, Canton gained a 60-34 decision over Massena, Edwards-Knox downed Salmon River 56-37 and OFA outscored Franklin Academy 56-38.
Canton 60, Massena 34: In Massena, the visiting Lady Bears placed first in all but one event in raising their early-season Division I record to 2-0.
Angelina Domeno and Dasha LaPoint scored two individual wins each to lead the Canton effort. Domena paced the 200 freestyle in 2:10.92 and the 500 freestyle in 5:58.31 while LaPoint led the 50 freestyle in 27.18 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 1:10.48. The duo also swam on the winning 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams.
For Massena, Baylee Carroll won the 100 freestyle in 1:02.27 to account for the lone first-place finish by the Lady Raiders (2-1).
E-K 56, Salmon River 37: At Fort Covington, the host Lady Shamrocks fashioned four first-place efforts in falling to the Lady Cougars.
Caroline Russell won the 100 butterfly, Clair Russell paced the 100 freestyle and Lauren Grant led the 200IM to account for the three individual firsts produced by Salmon River. The trio also combined with Carly Lafrance to capture the 200 freestyle relay.
Cheyenne Schwartfigure anchored the E-K scoring with wins in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle.
