COLTON — Students at Colton-Pierrepont Central School have laptops for the new school year.

The distribution of the laptops followed a 30-minute presentation on Internet safety by attorney Gary W. Miles and St. Lawrence County District Attorney Nicole M. Duve.

This is the third year for the program. A $25 fee provides insurance that covers the cost of the computers from damage or loss after a $100 deductible. The $25 fee is waived for students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunches.

Only students in grades seven through 12 are permitted to take the laptops home with them.
