NEW BREMEN — A settlement that was expected to be signed by all parties Friday, ending a four-year struggle to reopen Adirondack International Speedway, has been postponed.

“The state asked to have it adjourned,” Lewis County Attorney Richard J. Graham said. “There was an attorney from the attorney general’s office that’s not available.”

Though a new date has yet to be rescheduled, Mr. Graham said he expected it to be soon, stating, “We’re going to do everything we can to wrap this up.”

The settlement is the last of several hurdles track owner Paul H. Lyndaker faced since the track closed in 2009.

A deal between the town of New Bremen and Mr. Lyndaker in June 2012, establishing a reduced tax assessment, gave a glimmer of hope for its return.

The still unsigned settlement stems from a 2010 lawsuit that was filed by the speedway against the county.

The state and Lewis County Opportunities are also named as parties to the suit, in which Mr. Lyndaker contends a mortgage placed on the property should have expired after he met the conditions of a 2004 Assurance of Discontinuance executed by the state comptroller.

Mr. Graham and Mr. Lyndaker both declined to divulge the details of the settlement.

Mr. Lyndaker said a race set for Oct. 6 will still go on as planned.

The pits open at noon, with races set to begin at 2 p.m. Admission is $5.
