Driver hits cow in road, suffers minor injuries

LOWVILLE — A teenage driver suffered minor injuries when he hit a cow in the road at 1 a.m. Tuesday on Route 12 a near O’Brien Road in the town of Lowville, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department.

Tyler Norton, 18, Glenfield, struck the animal, owned by Wilford Mayer, killing it on impact. He suffered a bump on his head and cut on his hand, according to Undersheriff James M. Monnat. Mr. Norton declined ambulance transport.

The vehicle, a Ford Taurus, received major damage. No tickets were issued as a result of the accident.
