POTSDAM The villages West Dam Hydro Project has been delayed once again, although the plant is still expected to begin generating power within weeks.
Last week, one of the plants hydraulic control cylinders failed during testing. A replacement part has been ordered, and is expected to arrive soon.
Once the final parts are installed, all that remains is for the village to finalize a power purchase agreement with National Grid.
Construction on the West Dam Hydro plant began in 2008 and was slated for completion the next year. Most of its many delays have been attributed to Canadian Turbines Inc., a company that never deliveried the crucial parts it was hired to deliver.
