Philadelphia woman turns herself in on welfare charges

Allison M. Kearney, 25, of 14 Sand St., Philadelphia, was charged by Watertown city police with felony fourth-degree grand larceny, felony first-degree offering a false instrument, felony misuse of food stamps and welfare fraud at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.

She turned herself in to be arrested on a bench warrant issued by Judge Catherine J. Palermo out of Watertown City Court.

The alleged fraud occurred June 1 at the Jefferson County Department of Social Services, 250 Arsenal St., according to police.

Ms. Kearney was processed and held for arraignment.
