Clarkson volleyball wins opener

CORTLAND - The Golden Knights opened the season with a 25-12, 20-25, 25-19, 25-23 victory over Richard Stockton at the SUNY Cortland Invitational.

Clarkson (1-1), which is ranked No. 23 nationally, fell to No. 11 Mount Union 22-25, 25-21, 25-22, 18-25, 17-25 in its second match.

BEARS TAKE TWO

SUNY Potsdam opened the season with a pair of wins at the SUNY Oneonta Invitational.

The Bears defeated Hartwick 25-18, 25-21, 25-17 and then defeated Emmanuel 25-13, 23-25, 25-18, 22-25, 15-13.

SAINTS FALL TWICE

SLU, also competing in Oneonta, dropped its first two matches of the season.

The host Red Dragons defeated SLU 25-22, 25-22, 25-23 and Kean earned a 23-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-21 victory over the Saints.

ROOS START 2-0

SUNY Canton opened its own invitational with a pair of victories.

The Kangaroos defeated SUNYIT 25-23, 25-15, 25-19 and then defeated SUNY Oswego 25-18, 24-26, 25-15, 25-20.
