Two FedEx tractor-trailer cabs were destroyed and a third damaged by fire Thursday morning at the company’s distribution center on Murrock Circle in the town of Pamelia.

Glen Park Fire Chief Ralph W. Skinner said firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the nearby warehouse, but the two trucks were a total loss in the blaze that was reported about 7:30 a.m.

Chief Skinner said one of the trucks had just returned to the center from a run about 6 a.m. and was parked between two others. It is believed the fire started in the recently returned vehicle and spread. He said there were no problems reported with the vehicle where the fire began.

The chief said the cause of the fire may never be known because of the extensive damage to the vehicle.

In addition to Glen Park, fire departments from Northpole, Brownville and the town of Watertown assisted at the scene. The state Department of Environmental Conservation’s spill response team also was called to the scene because diesel fuel leaked from the vehicles.
