CARTHAGE — Nathanael F. Garrison, 22, address not available, was charged by state police Friday with second-degree reckless assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

It is alleged that on Jan. 22 in the town of Wilna he subjected a 2-month-old child to scalding bath water. Police said the child suffered second-degree burns over 45 percent of its body.

The child was treated at Golisano Children’s Hospital at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, and has recovered from the injuries, according to police.

Mr. Garrison was arraigned in Village Court and sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $10,000 bail. State police were assisted in their investigation by Fort Drum’s criminal investigation division.
