MORRISTOWN — The Morristown Gateway Museum is partnering with Bella-Brooke Winery for a lecture showcasing a growing industry in the north country.

“These wineries are a big thing that are coming up north,” Gateway Museum Secretary M. Patricia Reagen said.

Ms. Reagen noted that the museum has focused largely on Morristown’s past, but said she hopes it will be part of its future, as well, and wineries could be a part of that future.

“They could be a great source of income and a great source of commercialism up here,” she said.

The lecture will focus on Bella-Brooke Winery, which opened in 2008, and will describe the process of producing wine in the north country, Ms. Reagen said.

Carol A. Davis, co-owner of the winery, said the lecture won’t just be someone standing in front of a screen.

“They’re going to go up and take a tour of the vineyard and learn about the history of the wine and wine making,” she said.

The winery, at 2989 County Route 6, is built on an eight-acre vineyard with a converted barn from the 1850s that serves as the main building.

“We make our own wine and everything is processed right here,” Mrs. Davis said.

Mrs. Davis said the lecture and tour will include wine tasting.

Ms. Reagen said the lecture, which will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, is open to the public and free of charge.
