Watertown police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred overnight at the Sunoco convenience station on Washington Street.

City police were called to the store, 1222 Washington St., at about 12:43 a.m. Wednesday. Two masked men, one armed with a long gun, entered the convenience store and demanded cash. The robbers, one described as white and the other a black male, got away with a undisclosed amount of cash, said Lt. Frank J. Derrigo.

Only the clerk, who was not harmed, was inside the store when the robbery occurred, he said.

As of Wednesday morning, police had no suspects. Lt. Derrigo was not releasing many details, saying the investigation was “still early.”

“We’re following leads,” he said.
