Ogdensburg has talent.

Thirty contestants, both young and adults, drew cheers Tuesday from an enthusiastic audience at Ogdensburg Free Academy’s auditorium for the Seaway Festival karaoke contest.

The winners in the youth, junior, ladies and men’s categories will meet in the finals at Library Park on Friday.

It was fun, though.

Susan L. House led Suzie Q. and Linda Loo and Cathy Too in a spirited take of the Beatles’ 1965 hit “Eight Days A Week,” complete with guitars and Fab Four wigs and suits.

“We have fun,” said Linda A.N. Hurteau, 67. “We’re the Beatles!”

The trio hones its act regularly at Wallace E. Rock Amvets Post 19 in Ogdensburg on Friday nights.

“I enjoy singing,” said Ms. House, 66.

“I’m a big ham,” added Carol A. French, 61.

Seven-year-old Quinn O. Crosson, on the other hand, was “a little nervous.” It was her first karaoke, singing “Tell Me Something I Don’t Know” by pop princess Selena Gomez.

“My Dad’s like, ‘You got to do this,’” she said. “I said yeah.”

Why not, said Dawn M. Merz, sales manager for sponsor Q102.9/Yes FM radio.

“It’s to have fun and to hone their craft,” she said.

The winners were:

Youth: Sydney Morley, Hailey Weber and Connor Grenier.

Junior: Morgan Sabre, Adriana Parks and Rileigh Planty (duet), Sienna Gamble and Troy and Tanner O’Brien (duet).

Ladies: Morgan Zucconi, Tessa Anne Harper and Collette Aumell.

Men’s: Brandon Gamble, Edward Sharlow and Richard Fitzgerald.
