HOPKINTON - St. Lawrence County Sheriffs Department deputies charged Dean M. Lamphere Jr., 42, of 2914 Route 11B, Nicholville,with fourth-degree criminal mischief Saturday following a domestic incident at their residence in the town of Hopkinton. Lamphere was arraigned in the town of Hopkinton Court and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $1,000 cash or $1,500 bond.
Massena-based state police had charged Lamphereand Danielle C. LaPage, 32, of 2914 Route 11B, Nicholville, with multiple counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument in late June stemming from an investigation into a complaint launched on June 9. The couple reported issued approximately $25,000 worth of checks on an account with insufficient funds in the towns of Hopkinton and Lawrence and the village of Massena. Those checks were reportedly cashed on Mr. Lampheres fathers business account without his knowledge.
Troopers said one check was cashed at the North Lawrence IGA, three were cashed at the Twin Pines gas station in Nicholville and the remainder were passed in the village of Massena. Other checks were cashed in Franklin County.
Lamphere was charged with four counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, arraigned by Massena LaPage was charged with 12 counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument.
