A Watertown resident was charged after he allegedly pushed a city police officer Friday afternoon.

Police said Barry E. Groff, 47, of 329 N. California Ave., squared off on the 200 block of Franklin Street with Officer George A. Cummings in what was listed as a fighter stance, then pushed Officer Cummings in the shoulders with both hands.

Charged at 3:49 p.m. Friday with second-degree harassment, he was moved from the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building to Samaritan Medical Center due to a high level of intoxication, police said. He later was released with an appearance ticket for City Court.
