CANTON — Hundreds of residents of St. Lawrence County waited for their power to be restored Saturday night after thunderstorms Friday left them in the dark for more than 24 hours.

Some may not get power back until tonight, National Grid reported.

An update provided by the utility at 7:30 p.m. Saturday stated that 722 customers were still without power throughout the county.

The following communities are expected to be restored by midnight:

Brasher Falls, 45 customers without power; Canton, 22 customers; Norwood, 63 customers; Potsdam, 28 customers; Waddington, 45 customers.

Colton, with 49 customers still awaiting power, and Parishville, with 99 customers, are expected to be restored by 5 p.m. today.

Norfolk, with 72 customers without power, is expected to be restored by 7 p.m.
