POTSDAM - CJ’s-Chip’s Place turned back Pepsi-The Place 5-3 in a North Country Men’s Summer Soccer matchup at the SUNY Potsdam turf field Sunday night.

CJ’s-Chip’s Place went ahead 4-1 when Scott Bartenstein finished off a play set up by Zack Votra in the second half before Pepsi-The Place closed the gap to 4-3 with back-to-back goals. Votra, who helped set up three of the first four goals, sealed the win when he broke through for his only tally off an assist from Ben Aldrich.

Bartenstein generated a hattrick in the winning effort while Mark Misiak converted from Willi Steinrotter to account for the other goal. Ben Steinberg made six saves backstopping the win.

In other Sunday evening action, Hoot Owl-North Country Savings Bank edged Lisbon 3-2, CKON-Stitches and Signs battled S&L Electric to a 2-2 tie while Massena Savings and Loan played SeaComm to a scoreless draw.

Hoot Owl-NCSB 3, Lisbon 2: Travis Jordan anchored the winning offense with a goal and assist. Ryan Kocher and Dave Pynchon connected for the other Canton goals while Repton Adams and Colby Young each fashioned solo assists and Ryan Hayes worked the crease for eight saves.

Adam Felt and Mike McDonell netted the Lisbon goal while Billy Gemmill handled 10 shots in the losing cause.

CKON-Stitches and Signs 2, S&L Electric 2: Tim Cook scored both goals for CKON-Stitches and Signs, the first assisted by Connor Dix and the other by David Henrie. Zack Smith notched eight saves handling crease duties.

Massena S&L 0, SeaComm 0: Alan Davis had 17 saves to earn the shutout for Massena S&L while Jordan Kendall fielded the 14 shots he faced for SeaComm.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

In a North Country Women’s Summer Soccer make-up game played on Sunday, Edwards-Knox surged to a 7-1 win over Parishville-Potsdam.
