MORRISTOWN – W. Howard Warren is running for a third term on the town council.

As deputy town supervisor for the past six years, Mr. Warren said he enjoys serving the town.

“I like to be involved in what’s going on around the town,” he said. “I try to do a good job by everybody.”

Mr. Warren said the town is facing difficult years ahead.

“I think the biggest focus we’re going to have is trying to keep our budget within line of what it has been which is harder to do now with the (state) mandates that are unfunded,” he said.

Mr. Warren said he would like to keep taxes about even, though he said big, hard-to-swallow cuts in local government spending may have to happen in the future in order to make that a reality.

As an example of the sorts of cuts he envisions, Mr. Warren pointed out that Morristown has already cut insurance for town officials.

“I just always try to keep the best interest of the town’s people and the village people in mind when there are decisions to be made,” Mr. Warren said. “I try to be fair and honest with everybody. I don’t have a personal agenda on anything.”

A 40-year resident of the village, Mr. Warren owns Howard’s Hobby and Repair Shop, which he operates out of his home.

His business has focused on keeping boats in good shape since 1992, but Mr. Warren said he’s been working on boats for the past 43 years in various capacities.

Previously Mr. Warren served on the village board for nine years.

Mr. Warren is running as a Republican. The general election is Nov. 5.
