RAYMONDVILLE - The Norfolk Post 925 Rovers got their American Legion Baseball tournament off to a quiet start on Friday a Memorial Field.
Hard-throwing righty Quenton Barber limited the Rovers to just a pair of hits in helping to lead the Clinton Country Junior Mariners to a 3-0 decision over the host team. Barber finished with eight strikeouts and two walks in outdueling Jordan LaShomb, who fanned nine and walked three while giving up just five hits.
LaShomb also had a single along with Cody Smith to account for the lone Norfolk hits.
Barber gave himself all the run support he would need with a two-out, two-run single to center in the top of the first inning. Daniel Hartman delivered a two-out, RBI-single in the third to account for the other run.
