WADDINGTON – Town Clerk Carol A. Burns has seen many faces and learned many names as a result of her more than 23 years of service to the town.

“I am not originally from the area,” said the 30-year resident. “It used to be my husband, Larry, who was born here, would point people out to me. Now I am the one that knows everyone.”

Mrs. Burns is running for re-election this year for a sixth four-year term. So far no other candidates have surfaced for the town clerk post.

Mrs. Burns said what she enjoys most about her position is the opportunity to help the public and town employees.

“I’ve enjoyed getting to know new faces and seeing the same people, too. I do a lot of work the employees with health insurance. They know if they need something, I can do it for them. I try to accommodate with people with special appointments, too.”

For several years, Mrs. Burns has been instrumental town-sponsored community service projects — from fundraising for the Helping Hands Program to hosting food drives for the Waddington Neighborhood Center.

“We try to help any way we can,” she said.
