The Norwood-Norfolk Central School Board of Education officially accepted the retirement of Superintendent Elizabeth A. Kirnie during Tuesday nights meeting. Board members presented Mrs. Kirnie, who will retire at the end of June, with gifts to thank her for her seven years of service to the district. She took over as superintendent on Dec. 18, 2006. The post had previously been held by James Short, who took over as superintendent of the Plattsburgh City School District last summer. Jay Kilcoyne served as the interim superintendent until Mrs. Kirnie arrived in the district. Norwood-Norfolks new superintendent, James M. Cruikshank, the current principal at A.A. Kingston Middle School in Potsdam, will take over on July 1.
