■ WEST CARTHAGE — The village Board of Trustees has approved $300 for the Carthage Area Chamber of Commerce for the July 6 fireworks show.

n ALEXANDRIA BAY — The Thousand Islands Land Trust will hold a volunteer recognition day/open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at its offices, 135 John St.

n The number of departures in May from Watertown International Airport increased 15 percent, from 1,379 to 1,616, compared with May 2012, while arrivals increased 7 percent, from 1,616 to 1,734.

n The city of Watertown’s hydrant flushing will continue Tuesday with J.B. Wise Place, Mill Street, South Bellew and Main avenues, Waterman Drive and the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.
