EVANS MILLS State police charged a village resident Sunday morning after he allegedly verbally accosted a pair of troopers.
Police said they were called to the residence of James O. Abuya, 30, of 26119 Harrier Court, following reports of a fight between people at the residence. They were met outside the residence by an unnamed man involved in the fight who asked them to retrieve property he had left inside. When police went to the residence to interview Mr. Abuya about the incident and the property, he allegedly slammed the door on them, then opened it again to yell obscenities at the troopers.
Police also said he was uncooperative when they attempted to handcuff him.
Charged at 1:01 a.m. with second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, he was arraigned in Theresa Town Court and later held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown.
Police said Mr. Abuyas information was obtained through Fort Drum military police, as he refused to give any identifying information about himself.
