THERESA — Five people were taken to the hospital for evaluation Friday morning after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of routes 37 and 26.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies said the accident took place about 9:50 a.m. when Mark T. Lilley, 49, Cape Vincent, drove his Subaru through a stop sign and hit a Jeep driven by Gail D. Gray, 63, Redwood.

Deputy Travis F. Alcombrack said Mr. Lilley was traveling west on Route 26 when his vehicle went through the stop sign and crashed into Ms. Gray’s Jeep, which was southbound on Route 37.

Route 26 and Route 37 run together for about 2 miles north of the intersection.

Deputy Alcombrack said that he did not have any information about the lone passenger in the vehicle with Mr. Lilley and that he could describe the two passengers with Ms. Gray only as her grandchildren. He said he did not have any of the passengers’ names, ages or addresses.

Both of the drivers and all of the passengers were taken to Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, for evaluation.

None of the people in the crash suffered any serious injuries, Deputy Alcombrack said. However, both vehicles involved sustained significant damage.

Mr. Lilley was ticketed with failure to stop at a stop sign.

Other agencies that responded to the accident scene were the Theresa and LaFargeville fire departments, Indian River Ambulance and the Thousand Islands Emergency Rescue Service.
