NORFOLK Three Norfolk-area teens face obscenity charges after they allegedly transmitted nude photos via mobile phone messages, state police said Friday.
Charged were Ryan M. Gay, 17, Raymondville, as well as a 15-year-old boy from Norfolk and a 14-year-old girl from Norwood whose names were not released.
Each faces a charge of third-degree obscenity involving obscene material, a class A misdemeanor, troopers said.
Investigator Darin C. Chartrand said that Norwood-Norfolk Central School officials contacted state police about the incident April 26, and that the charges followed investigation by specialists who deal with computer and electronic crimes.
No one answered the telephone at Norwood-Norfolk offices Friday afternoon, as the district was closed for the Memorial Day holiday.
Investigator Chartrand said investigation revealed the images appeared to be mostly self-produced, although it was not immediately clear whether the photos had been shared with anyone other than the three individuals who are facing charges.
The 14- and 15-year-olds were charged Tuesday evening. Mr. Gay was charged on Friday.
All were issued appearance tickets returnable to Norfolk Town Court.
