POTSDAM The Ogdensburg Free Academy baseball team took advantage of two infield errors in the top of the sixth inning to defeat Potsdam, 7-4, on Thursday, moving into first place in the Northern Athletic Conferences Central Division.
Brendan Arsenault drove in two runs in the first with a triple for OFA (10-1 overall and division), and Kinnon LaRose singled twice.
Seth Pinkerton pitched two scoreless innings in relief to earn the win.
Will Coleman produced three hits and struck out nine for Potsdam (11-3, 9-2). Andrew Ace singled and doubled.
MADRID-WADDINGTON 2, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 1
Harrison VanBuren drove in Greg Thompson from third base with a single for the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Yellow Jackets defeated Norwood-Norfolk (12-2, 10-1) in an East Division game in Madrid.
Thompson struck out seven for Madrid-Waddington (6-4).
TUPPER LAKE 10, BRUSHTON-MOIRA 9
Devin Larson went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs to lead the Lumberjacks (4-8) past Brushton-Moira in an East Division contest in Tupper Lake.
Mitch Keniston went 2-for-3, drove in two runs and struck out eight for Tupper Lake.
Alex Burnett, Evan Tavernier and Jacob St. Mary all went 2-for-4 for the Panthers (8-4).
NORWOOD-NORFOLK 14, MADRID-WADDINGTON 1
Katie Ames struck out six and allowed only four hits as Norwood-Norfolk defeated the Yellow Jackets (7-11, 5-10) in a North Division game in Madrid.
Carlea Weaver, Mickey Fregoe and Katie Ames each produced three hits for the Flyers (14-3, 11-3).
Kirsten Barkley and Courtney Wagstaff each added two hits. Taylor Marcellus lined two hits for Madrid-Waddington.
BRUSHTON-MOIRA 18, TUPPER LAKE 1
Emily OConnor allowed the Lumberjacks (0-14) only four hits to lead Brushton-Moira to a North Division win at Tupper Lake. OConnor also doubled for the Panthers (10-4).
COLTON-PIERREPONT 10, PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTON 4
Sabrina Johnson struck out eight to lift the Colts (8-8, 8-6) past Parishville-Hopkinton in an East Division game in South Colton.
Andrea Aldous singled three times for the Colts. Kodie Perkins led the Panthers (6-8) with a three-hit effort.
EDWARDS-KNOX 8, HARRISVILLE 1
Makayla Bacon struck out 15 to lead Edwards-Knox past the Pirates (5-10, 5-8) in a West Division contest in Harrisville.
Dakota Bacon singled twice for the Cougars (9-6, 7-5).
CANTON 9, GOUVERNEUR 2
Beth Pearson was the winning pitcher and went 3-for-4, driving in two runs, to help the Golden Bears (7-6, 7-4) win a Central Division game against Gouverneur in Canton. The game started on May 8 but was suspended in the fifth inning due to weather conditions.
Janelle Sovey and Emma Rexford each went 2-for-4 for Canton.
Megan Cook singled twice for the Wildcats (5-9, 4-7).
OFA 34, POTSDAM 2
OFA scored 12 runs in the top of the first and went on to defeat the Sandstoners (1-14, 1-10) in a Central Division game in Ogdensburg.
Winning pitcher Felicia Barr produced two hits, including a home run, for OFA (8-3).
Cheyenne Tyo also homered for the Blue Devils.
ST. LAWRENCE 16, CANTON 4
Luke Arquiett scored three goals and assisted on four more and Marshall Burninghausen added four goals to lead the Larries (12-2) past Canton in Brasher Falls.
SALMON RIVER 18, POTSDAM 7
Dalston Day led the Shamrocks (15-0) with four goals and five assists, and Skylar Thomas also scored four goals in a win over Potsdam in Fort Covington.
Kason Tarbell and Russ Oakes each scored three goals for Salmon River.
Kyle Grant led the Sandstoners (7-9, 6-8) with four goals and Stephen Lewis tallied two.
MASSENA 16, NORTHWOOD PREP 3
Grayson Phillips paced the Red Raiders with four goals in a nonleague win over the Northwood Prep School in Massena.
Evan Kassian and Jordy Mitchell each scored three goals for Massena (10-6). Isaiah Perry added two goals.
OFA 13, SARANAC LAKE 7
Mackenzie Bresett scored three goals with three assists to lead the Blue Devils (6-10, 6-6) in Ogdensburg.
Nikki Holmes added three goals for the Blue Devils.
Sky Hoover and Kaitlin Sheppard each scored twice.
