CANTON The suspects in an alleged kidnapping attempt in Massena are both behind bars after an appearance Tuesday morning in St. Lawrence County Court.
Patrick R. Lloyd, 25, Massena, appeared with his attorney, Edward F. Narrow, who petitioned Judge Jerome J. Richards to consider amending Mr. Lloyds confinement terms from held without bail to held in lieu of $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond.
The judge declined that request and sent Mr. Lloyd back to the St. Lawrence County jail.
Mr. Lloyd and his girlfriend, Miranda M. Green, 18, Massena, allegedly tried to kidnap another Massena resident, Catherine A. Berry, 17, of 66 Liberty Ave., on Feb. 16.
Frustration grew after Mr. Lloyd posted bail in Massena Village Court and later was released under probation supervision by Judge Richards.
Six days after his release under probation, Mr. Lloyd was jailed after he was accused of taking part in an April 11 home invasion at 27½ Spruce St., Massena. He reappeared before Judge Richards, who revoked his bail based on the new arrest, and based on allegations that Mr. Lloyd had violated his probation terms by consuming alcohol.
Ms. Green went to court Tuesday for Mr. Lloyds appearance, but the judge ordered her held under a bench warrant issued after probation officials alleged that she violated the terms of her pretrial release by failing to keep an appointment for chemical dependency services.
She was arraigned before Judge Richards on March 25 in connection with the alleged kidnapping.
Ms. Green, who recently had learned that she was pregnant, tested positive for marijuana that day, and the judge warned her to stay clean or face jail, regardless of her pregnancy.
Mr. Narrow offered to represent Ms. Lloyd before the judge on Tuesday, since her own attorney, Peter A. Dumas, was not present.
The judge declined and jailed Ms. Green pending an appearance Thursday.
