U.S. Rep. William L. Owens, D-Plattsburgh, announced Thursday he is creating an Agricultural Advisory Committee for New Yorks 21st Congressional District.
People with farming knowledge from across the district will comprise the committee and will advise Mr. Owens on farmers needs and provide a local perspective on farm policy.
Mr. Owens will hold the committees inaugural meeting during a conference call next week in which he will provide an update on the Farm Bills progress and get the committees initial input on what it would like to see in the legislation.
The committees makeup is preliminary and will include more than 40 members. A list of members is available at http://owens.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=333193.
