CARTHAGE Carthage Federal Savings & Loan Association, 313 State St., will celebrate its 125th anniversary with an open house from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday. In keeping with the era of the banks opening, Victorian attire is welcome but not required.
Refreshments will be available and a storyboard about the history of the bank will be on display.
Throughout the year, the bank will offer prizes in keeping with the 125 theme. There will be monthly drawings for customers with prizes valued at $125, said Teri L. Ellis, bank executive assistant.
Thomas H. Piche, bank CEO, said the open house is a way to thank the community for 125 years of support.
We are proud to be one of if not the oldest independent financial institutions in the area from Syracuse up to Plattsburgh, Mr. Piche said.
The banks organizational meeting was held Dec. 3, 1888.
