BRASHER FALLS - The St. Lawrence Central varsity baseball team notched a convincing twinbill sweep at home over Chateaugay in NAC North/East Division action on Wednesday.

In the opening game, the Larries scored five runs in each of their first two at-bats en route to gaining an 11-0 decision.

Kris Tabor fanned 10 and walked three in tossing the five-inning shutout but was denied a no-hitter when Kelly Gibson connected for a two-out single in the top of the fifth inning.Cody Smith went the first four innings in taking the loss.

Offensively for the Larries, Tyler Smith launched a three-run homerun in the first inning. Nate McLaughlin and Hayden St. Hilaire both singled and came around to score twice.

In the nightcap, the Bulldogs answered three SLC run in the top of the first with four of their own in the bottom half of the inning but the Larries went on to score 11 unanswered runs in a 14-4 win.

St. Hilaire came on with the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the first and pitched scoreless baseball the rest of the way to earn the win in relief of Zane Ramsdell while Gibson was tagged with the loss. St. Hilaire finished with seven strikeouts and three walks.

McLaughlin came a homerun away from hitting for the cycle in leading the Larries. He also drove in five runs and came around to score three times while Devon Euto was 3-4 with four runs scored and Smith went 2-4 with three runs scored.

Corey Hill tripled and Isaac Kinney singled to account for the two Chateaugay hits.

The Larries (5-3) will be at Tupper Lake on Friday.

In the lone other North/East matchup Wednesday, host Madrid-Waddington took two from Tupper Lake by scores of 4-1 and 8-2.

Zach Brock and Harrison VanBuren each delivered an RBI-single in the two-run third inning for a 3-0 Jackets lead and Greg Thompson held for a nine strikeout, five-inning, four hitter. VanBuren had two hits while Jacob Barney also singled and drove in a run.

Marcus Richer lined a RBI single for Tupper Lake in the fourth. Larson fanned five and walked six in the setback.

In game two, James Hunt allowed four hits and no walks in a six strikeout, five-inning win. Hunt aided his cause with a two -un double in the six-run fifth. Brock added two singles and an RBI while Barney (RBI) and VanBuren each singled.

Josh Clement lined an RBI-single for Tupper Lake. Devon Larson, Mitch Keniston and Richer each singled. Austin Gagnier was saddled with the loss.
