The city has proposed spending $520,500 to fix up eight streets as part of this year’s street-paving program.

Superintendent of Public Works Eugene P. Hayes said streets were selected based on condition. Some of them had been slated to be repaired in previous years but had not been, he said.

City work crews would complete the work, which would be funded entirely through the state Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program, or CHIPs. Work should begin in two or three weeks, Mr. Hayes said.

Work scheduled:

n A section of Grove Street, between East Main Street and Moulton Street, will undergo $45,000 in standard street paving.

n Sections of Barben Avenue and Burchard Street will get $144,000 in standard street paving and curbing.

n The city will spend $331,500 to pave and install curbing and surface mill on LeRay, Mill, Emerson, Mechanic and Hamilton streets.
