South Lewis’ Loomis delivers no-hitter; Beaver River socks Sackets Harbor

ALEXANDRIA BAY — Junior right-hander Shawn Loomis fired a no-hitter, striking out 10, as South Lewis blanked Alexandria, 21-0, on Wednesday in Frontier League crossover baseball game.

Nathan Pleskach went 4-for-6, including a double, and drove in a run to lead a 23-hit effort for the Falcons (5-1 overall). Hunter Jones tripled, doubled, singled and knocked in a run for South Lewis, and Jason Martin singled three times and drove in two runs. Jacob Vanbeber collected three singles.

BEAVER RIVER 16, SACKETS HARBOR 2

Dustin Neddo tripled twice and drove in three runs as the Beavers won a crossover game at Sackets Harbor.

Corey Stevens smacked two doubles and plated three runs for Beaver River (5-1).

THOUSAND ISLANDS 9, BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 5

Austin Bach stroked four singles and pitched six innings for the win as the Vikings gained a crossover win in Belleville.

Chase Boyer and Brentyn Horton each drove in two runs for Thousand Islands (3-2).

Brendan Moore slapped two singles for Belleville Henderson (2-3).

LOWVILLE 10, COPENHAGEN 6

The Red Raiders used a four-run seventh inning to pull away from the Golden Knights for a crossover win at Copenhagen.

Connor Fayle singled and drove in a run for Lowville (4-1).

Brandon Moser laced a pair of hits for Copenhagen (3-1).

IHC 10, GENERAL BROWN 5

Winning pitcher Louis Freda also singled twice and knocked in two runs to help propel the Cavaliers to a crossover victory in Dexter.

Robin Massey doubled and singled for IHC (3-0).

Erik Wollum doubled and singled to lead the Lions (2-5, 1-4). Ryan Ellis and Jared Christopher each singled twice.

WATERTOWN 18, SOUTH JEFFERSON 3

Jared Bellinger threw five shutout innings and drove in four runs on three hits as the host Cyclones claimed a crossover win. Josh Belch doubled and knocked in two runs, and Ryan Bajjaly finished with three RBIs for Watertown (5-2, 3-0).

Marcus Shelmidine went 3-for-4 with an RBI for South Jefferson (1-5).

SANDY CREEK 20, LYME 2

Ben Sheppard hit a home run to lead the Comets past the Indians (0-6) in a crossover game in Chaumont.

Mason McNitt doubled for Sandy Creek (2-2).

GIRLS LACROSSE

INDIAN RIVER 13, CARTHAGE 12

Paige Fayette scored the winning goal with 4 minutes, 24 seconds remaining to lift Indian River to its first victory over Carthage in program history and its first league win in five years during a Frontier League matchup at Philadelphia.

Fayette finished with seven goals, while Katie Brierton posted five goals and two assists for Indian River (5-3, 1-3).

Hannah Millich provided two goals and five assists, and Mackenzie Kidder scored four goals for Carthage (1-5, 1-3), which led 7-4 at halftime.

WATERTOWN 13, IHC 6

Brianne Arthur totaled six points, including five goals, as the Cyclones recorded a Frontier League triumph. Morgan Cadwell and Ashley Flick each added three goals and an assist for Watertown (5-1, 4-0).

Kayla Miles scored two goals for the Cavaliers (4-3, 1-3).

SOUTH JEFFERSON 10, GENERAL BROWN 8

Stephanie Green scored three goals and assisted on another as the Spartans rallied past the Lions in Dexter.

Maddie Knapp and Clarissa Perry each provided two goals and an assist, and Morgan Alexander added three assists for South Jefferson (4-3, 2-2).

Hannah Peebles scored two goals and assisted on another for General Brown (3-4, 2-2).

SOFTBALL

GENERAL BROWN 3, IHC 1

Junior Katie Pitkin tossed a one-hitter, striking out 16, to pace the Lions to a crossover triumph in Dexter.

Hannah Smithers doubled and singled for General Brown (5-1).

Kayla Gaffney doubled and singled for the Lions, and Hope VanBrocklin singled twice against the Cavaliers (2-2, 0-2).

SOUTH JEFFERSON 20, WATERTOWN 0 (6)

Janessa Vaadi spun a three-hitter, striking out 10, and also singled twice and drove in four runs to spark the unbeaten Spartans to a crossover victory.

Breanna LaFlesh singled twice and doubled, and Lyndsie O’Brien hit two singles for South Jefferson (6-0).

Teniesha Gulledge singled twice for the Cyclones (1-3, 0-3).

SANDY CREEK 15, LYME 1

Michaela Martin and Alina Quintana combined on a one-hit shutout as the Comets posted a crossover victory over the Indians (2-5) in Chaumont.

Maggie King went 3-for-3 with a run batted in and Shania Darling doubled twice, driving in three runs for Sandy Creek (3-1).

THOUSAND ISLANDS 33, BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 3

Erica Sullivan finished 4-for-6 with a grand slam and seven RBIs as the Vikings cruised to a crossover win in Belleville.

Alesha Waterman and Allie Barton combined for a complete game, striking out eight and allowing five hits for Thousand Islands (2-3).

ALEXANDRIA 14, SOUTH LEWIS 8

Amanda Lingenfelter homered, tripled and scored five runs as the Purple Ghosts slugged their way to a crossover win in Alexandria Bay.

Kayla Utterback drove in four runs for Alexandria (4-1).

Jessica Haig belted a home run and a double for South Lewis (5-1).

BEAVER RIVER 15, SACKETS HARBOR 1

Dallas Briot smashed a bases-clearing triple as a part of the Beavers’ six-run first inning in a crossover rout of the Patriots (1-6, 1-4) in Sackets Harbor.

Hailie Lehman hit a three-run double for Beaver River (1-5).

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

BAYNHAM POWERS WARRIORS

Taylor Baynham was a part of four wins to help lead Indian River to victories over Beaver River, 75-65, and Carthage, 83 2/3-57 1/3, in a Frontier League meet at Philadelphia. Beaver River beat Carthage, 76-65.

Baynham captured the 200-meter dash and triple jump and tied for first place in the 100. She also anchored the winning 400 relay for Indian River (4-0).

Victoria Rollin claimed the 800 and 1,500 and anchored the fastest 3,200 relay for the Beavers. Anna Bush added wins in the 400 and high jump for Beaver River (1-3).

PASTOR PROPELS SPARTANS

Skylar Pastor won the 400, 200 and high jump to lead South Jefferson to wins over Lowville, 99-41, and Altmar-Parish-Williamstown, 119-22, in a meet at Adams Center.

Lowville claimed a 93-47 victory over APW.

Ellory Roberts won the 100 and shot put for Lowville (3-1).

HARTLEY FUELS FALCONS

Gabby Hartley claimed the 100 and high jump and anchored the 400 and 1,600 relays to help lead South Lewis to victories over Watertown, 120-20, and Sandy Creek, 133-7, at Turin.

Sandy Creek defeated Watertown 69-62.

Zoe Shepherd added wins in the shot put and discus for South Lewis (3-1).

Gabby Thompson of Immaculate Heart Central won the 1,500 and 3,000.
