SLC, Massena boys notch NAC lax wins; Massena girls outscore Heuvelton

St. Lawrence Central turned back Potsdam while Massena outscored Saranac Lake in NAC varsity boys lacrosse matchups on Tuesday.

SLC 13, Potsdam 4: In Brasher Falls, the Larries built a 5-2 halftime lead before breaking the game open with a 5-1 third-quarter surge. Blake Baldwin anchored a balanced attack with two goals and four assists. Cody Burns and Ian Lynch generated three goals and two assists each. Marshall Burninghausen and Lukas Arquiett both added two goals and one helper. Styles Arquiett struck for the other goal while Skyler Burns logged a pair of assists and Brody Simonds recorded another.

Cody Compeau had a goal and assist in the losing cause. Hayden Hart, Kyle Grant and Stephen Lewis netted the other goals while Chad Varney produced a solo assist as the Sandstoners slipped to 3-3.

Kody Kocsis worked the SLC crease for 11 saves and Jason Cardinal stopped six shots for Potsdam.

The Larries are slated to play at Canton on Friday starting at 4:30 p.m. while the Sandstoners travel to Dexter to take on General Brown in a non-league game starting at 6:30 p.m.

Massena 10, Saranac Lake 7: The visiting Raiders outscored the Red Storm 3-0 in the third period to open an 8-4 lead before holding on for their third straight win.

Sako Rourke and Rhoades Tarbell anchored the Massena attack with three goals and an assist each. Grayson Phillips tallied two goals and one helper. Noah Ransom accounted for the other two goals while Jordy Mitchell, Nick Henrie, Dalton Mullin and Ross Driscoll all recorded solo assists.

Jeff Stevens and Oliver Holmes both netted hattricks in the losing cause. Kevin Duguay struck for the other goal while Quinn Urquhart fashioned three assists.

Kyle Cook worked the Raider crease for 11 saves. Mike Burpoe stopped 21 of the shots he faced for the Red Storm (1-5).

Massena returns to action this Saturday with a non-league game at home against Northwood Prep starting at 10 a.m.

Canton 15, Colton-Pierrepont 2: In the other NAC boys lacrosse contest staged on Tuesday, the visiting Bears scored eight unanswered goals in the second quarter to pull from the Colts at their field in Colton.

Brandon Rodee (2 assists), Gage Emerson (1 assist), Josh Pierson (1 assist), Jack Elberty and Garrett Glasgow all netted a pair of goals in the balanced Canton attack.

Andrew Holden and Gyle Dominy struck for the C-P goals while Isaiah Newtown logged an assist.

Andrew McCormick (5 saves) and Nate Gibson (0 saves) shared crease duties in the win while Craig Miller posted 15 stops for the Colts, who play host to OFA on Monday starting at 4:30 p.m.

GIRLS LACROSSE

In the lone NAC varsity girls lacrosse matchup on Tuesday, Massena Central pulled away to an 18-4 decision on the road over Heuvelton.

Erin Francis had four goals and four assists in the winning effort as the Lady Raiders worked their way to a commanding 10-2 lead. Alisha Jacobs generated four goals and one helper while Shannon Casey broke through for three goals and Steffanie Premo fashioned two goals and one assist. Contributing solo goals were Alanna Pyke (1 assist), Carlie Leary, Devin Kelly and Megan Hans while Mia Jermano tallied a solo assist.

Jackie Sovie paced the Lady Bulldogs (1-4) with three goals while Olivia St. Pierre struck for the other.

Annalee Beckstead made four saves backstopping the win and Heather Thompson handled 11 shots for Heuvelton.

Massena (4-1) is slated to host Saranac Lake on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
