OGDENSBURG- Ogdensburg Public Library has its homework to do.

The library’s staff and board of trustees have just begun amongst themselves coming up with a long-range strategy for the library. CITEC Business Solutions of Potsdam is assisting with the task through one of its associates, William Murray.

They all met on Tuesday night.

“He gave us our homework,” said Library Executive Director Wayne L. Miller.

Mr. Miller said Friday that Mr. Murray wanted the library staff and board to think ahead five years and beyond, speculating on where and what they want the library to be by then.

Checking out the operations of other libraries in the area might be a good place to start.

“Just go out and look at models,” Mr. Miller said.

Mr. Murray also wants the staff and board members to come up with a vision statement for the library. The possibilities discussed by Mr.

Miller so far include:

—The library “connects your community.”

—The library “is a physical and online place to enjoy, learn, meet, share, make and think.”

—The library “is the premier Third Space for Ogdensburg,” with work second and home first.

—”You belong at Ogdensburg Public Library.”

—”Ogdensburg Public Library will further efforts to revitalize Ogdensburg, enable personal development of people continue to broaden organizational activities beyond passive empowerment to providing tools for production.”

CITEC is charging the library $2,200 for its services. A full report will be delivered to the library by the end of June.
