P-H softball team pulls away from Tupper Lake

PARISHVILLE - Five players delivered two or more hits as the Parishville-Hopkinton varsity softball team improved to 3-0 under the direction of first year coach Justin Storie by downing Tupper Lake 21-6 in the lone NAC East Division game played on Friday.

Cassara Cole went 3-4 with a triple, Betty Converse went 3-5 with a triple and Caitlin McGregory went 3-4 to lead the Lady Panthers, who scored eight runs in the fourth inning. Marlee Wilson went 2-2 with a homerun and two RBIs and Mary Coventry went 2-2 leading the winning offense.

Nicole White struck out five pitching the win.

Mallory McLear led Tupper Lake at the plate with a homerun and two RBIs and Nikki Jessie went 2-2.


The Norwood-Norfolk Central modified softball Green Squad opened the 2013 season by downing Parishville-Hopkinton 14-2 on Thursday.

At the plate, Jenna Fiacco was 4-5 with a triple and Breanna DeShane was 4-4 while Bethany Belmore belted a long homerun in the fifth inning to break open a close ballgame.

On the mound, Bryanna Powell spun six strong innings of three-hit ball, fanning nine batters by mixing her fastballs with change-ups.

Next up for the modified Lady Flyers is a Gold Squad game against Brushton-Moira at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
