MASSENA If youre a subscriber to the monthly newsletter put out by the Greater Massena Chamber of Commerce and are waiting for it to arrive in your mailbox, you can stop looking.
The chamber has gone green by offering the newsletter and accompanying monthly calendar only on its website.
Executive Director Michael J. Gleason said the chamber mailed more than 400 copies of its newsletter to chamber members and to anybody else who wanted it.
Now, those who want to see the newsletter can visit the chambers website, www.massenachamber.com, and view or download the PDF file. A separate PDF file contains the calendar of events for the month.
The move offers chamber members another way to get their information easier and faster while doing away with paper, he said.
We are reducing our carbon footprint by offering our monthly newsletter and monthly calendar of events electronically versus mailing, Mr. Gleason said.
Providing the newsletter on the website also allows the chamber to make it more visually appealing, he said. Among the features in the latest newsletter are full-color photographs something not available in the print version of the award winners from the recent annual dinner and the Easter egg hunt sponsored by the Massena Chamber and Massena Kiwanis Club.
Its a nicer presentation, Mr. Gleason said. Its really the best way to go. It gives more of a visual feel.
He said that by offering the newsletter and calendar online, the chamber also hopes to draw more visitors to its website.
We are very proud of the chamber website and it is considered the place to go when looking for events or things to do in Massena, Chamber President Susan E. Stiles said.
Since more and more publications are moving to the web, Mr. Gleason said, the chamber decided to follow them.
Thats the way everybody is going now, he said.
In addition to the newsletter and calendar, the chamber offers its bi-monthly Chamber Connections mailing through Constant Contact. The emails offer the most current news and information about chamber-related activities, according to Mr. Gleason, and give Massena chamber members a free advertising opportunity.
Were hoping to get more members who want to join and take advantage of the whole setup we have with Constant Contact. We really try to get people to buy in and get our emails, he said.
