Johnson fuels Potsdam; Oswego drops SUNY Canton

TITUSVILLE, Fla. — Junior Megan Johnson threw a complete game one-hitter to lead the SUNY Potsdam softball team to a 3-0 victory over Rainy River College on Monday afternoon in Titusville, Fla.

The Bears then went on to beat Elgin Community College, 7-2, in the same location.

Johnson, a 2010 Heuvelton graduate, struck out five batters and allowed one walk in game one for the Bears (5-1), while freshman Alexis Lerman drove in two runs on two hits, and stole three bases.

Lerman also provided a two-run single in the second game.

n Erannan Shattuck scored four goals to lead Oswego State (3-2) past SUNY Canton, 17-6, in a nonconference women’s lacrosse game at Canton.

Brooke Knight scored three goals and Alyssa Altschuler stopped 10 shots for the Roos (2-3).

n Freshman goalie Ashley Kirch finished with 28 saves to lead the Jefferson Community College women’s lacrosse team to a 12-11 Region 3 victory over Mohawk Valley CC in Utica.

Erica Gardner scored six goals, while Allison Brady and Cierra Recor each provided a goal and six assists for the Cannoneers (2-0).
