CARTHAGE — The Wilna Town Council was informed of property transactions at the March 11 meeting.

Town Assessor Robert B. Ball reported to the board the property revaluations have been completed.

He also said five railroad properties have been transferred back to the Mohawk, Adirondack & Northern Railroad Corp., making them taxable. The town and other municipalities previously refused to extend a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement with the railway.

Council members authorized Supervisor Paul H. Smith to sign the necessary paperwork to sell a 50-by-125-foot parcel of town-owned vacant residential land on South James Street to Robert Sanders for $1,500. The property adjoins Mr. Sanders’s property. It was one of three properties the town declared surplus in June and had surveyed to sell the vacant lots and return them to the tax roll.

The board also received word from Jefferson County Deputy Attorney John Sabik of a road reversion concerning the recently replaced culvert on Selos Road.
