POTSDAM Community Performance Series plans auditions for its 2013 summer musicals: Hairspray and Little Shop of Horrors.
CPS seeks singers, actors and dancers ages 16 and up for principal and ensemble roles.
Hairspray requires ethnically appropriate casting. Actors must appear white/caucasian or African-American. CPS also will be seeking a female child of African-American descent between the ages of 9 and 15 for the role of Little Inez.
Initial vocal auditions will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday in Room C123 at SUNY Potsdams Crane School of Music. Enter through the Sara M. Snell Music Theater lobby and follow signs to the auditions. Dance call and callbacks will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Those auditioning are asked to prepare two 16-bar selections from music theater repertoire that show a contrast of vocal styles. One should be in pop belt style and the other from classical music repertoire. An accompanist will be provided. Sheet music must be in the preferred key; there will be no on-site transposition. Bring a recent photo. Photos will not be returned.
Other auditions are by appointment. To schedule one, email email@example.com. Walk-in auditions will be accommodated as time is available. For information about the roles, wee www.cpspotsdam.org.

Both productions will be directed by New York City-based directors.
