The Watertown Urban Mission will announce the community phase of its capital campaign during a news conference at 9:30 a.m. today at the agency, 247 Factory St.

The campaign, “Mission: Possible — Renew, Restore, Revitalize,” has been in its quiet phase for nearly a year, and the mission already has collected many sizable donations, including one for $200,000 from the Northern New York Community Foundation. The total amount raised thus far will be announced today.

Upwards of $2 million could be raised by the time the campaign concludes, and those funds will go toward elimination of debt, building repairs and creation of an endowment. The Urban Mission offers many services and programs to north country families looking for a helping hand.

According to a news release provided by the mission, the agency provided food, drink, clothing, household goods, school supplies, winter coats, help with prescriptions, medical transportation costs, addiction counseling and housing to neighbors in need more than 35,000 times in 2012.

Speaking at the news conference will be Board President Beverly Brown, Executive Director Erika F. Flint, campaign chairpersons John W. and Mary Jo Deans and the Rev. Frederick G. and Kathy Garry, and campaign supporters. They will announce project details and fundraising goals.

Parking will be available in the mission’s lot, at Morrison’s Furniture and at Rowland’s Appliances.
