At Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort in Hancock, MA, there is fun to be had on and off the snow.
On the snow at Jiminy I recently got to enjoy some twilight skiing, 3pm on into the night. Jiminy offers some excellent terrain for all levels. The resort also has great snowmaking and grooming. Even though we were there in the evening, little of the snow was scraped off due to their grooming. No ice! Visibility was good, especially with all the lights turned on for night skiing.
Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort is located in the heart of the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. In the winter months Jiminy is the largest ski and snowboard resort in southern New England. In the summer and fall the Resort is home to Mountain Adventure including Mountain and Aerial Adventure Parks, the Soaring Eagle Zip Ride and Mountain Segway tours, and 13 Nights Haunt.
Two of Jiminys favorite summer attractions have been open this winter season. All this ski season Jiminys Mountain Coaster and the new Soaring Eagle zip ride have provided fun for skiers and non-skiers alike.
The Mountain Coaster provides 3600 feet of twisting, turning fun through the woods. The rider controls the speed on the Coaster at speeds up to 23 miles per hour.
The Soaring Eagle opened during the summer of 2012 and is a two-person zip line ride. The Soaring Eagle pulls riders 800 feet backwards up the mountain at speeds as fast backward as they are forward. You and a friend can zoom up and down the mountain at speeds approaching 30 miles an hour at heights up to 30 feet high.
The Mountain Coaster and Soaring Eagle are open weekends and holiday 1-7 p.m. Discounted ticket prices are available with a valid lift ticket purchase for that day. For the most up to date hours and information check the daily snow report at jiminypeak.com.
Year-round, Jiminy offers on-mountain lodging options including a 102 one-bedroom suite Country Inn as well as two and three bedroom vacation homes and condominiums. Jiminy Peak specializes in meetings, events and conferences, and offers an exquisite mountain setting for weddings.
