Jefferson County’s Passport Day in the USA will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Jefferson County clerk’s office, 175 Arsenal St.

Residents can ask questions about getting a passport and submit an application.

U.S. Department of State passport officials will not participate in the event because of budget sequestration, though many non-department acceptance facilities, such as post offices, clerks of court and libraries, still will participate.

Applicants must have an original or certified copy of their birth certificate. Passport pictures will be taken. Credit and debit cards will not be accepted. For information, visit travel.state.gov or call 877-487-2778.
