A state corrections officer has been indicted on seven charges alleging he possessed items stolen from area construction sites.

Aaron A. Netto, 35, Watertown, is charged with three counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and single counts of tampering with physical evidence and fifth-degree conspiracy.

The charges were contained in a grand jury indictment handed up Tuesday in Jefferson County Court.

It is alleged that on Oct. 3 in the town of Watertown, Mr. Netto possessed a refrigerator stolen from Value Homes, two generators stolen from Three Phase Line Construction, a Whacker tamper owned by ConTech Building Systems, a Stihl chain saw stolen from Act II Construction and scaffolding belonging to McQuade and Bannigan. It is also alleged that he conspired with others to possess the stolen goods.

Jedadiah D. Romeo, 31, Watertown, has pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree burglary in connection with thefts from construction sites and is expected to be sentenced April 19 to time served at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and five years’ probation. Burglary charges remain pending against Ryan P. Clement, 26, Watertown.

Mr. Netto is suspended from his job as a corrections officer assigned to Riverview Correctional Facility, Ogdensburg.
