To The Editor:
We would like to thank everyone for making our first annual Howies Battle at the Bay ice fishing derby a success. Thank you to our largest contributors, Cappiones and A.J. Missert beer distributors for the $500 cash prizes, Don Meissner of FishCap, Bob Giordano of Wounded Warriors Outdoor Adventures, Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad for use of the four-wheelers, and the Army National Guard of Buffalo for the tent.
Thank you to Pepsi-Cola Ogdensburg Bottlers, Wardy, Tractor Supply, J&B Sealing, Nigs Tavern, the Moose Lodge, The Washboard, 1000 Islands Bait Store, Wal-Mart, A.J. Septic, Sharlows, Gary Felice of Empire Merchants North, and Price Chopper for their contributions.
Thanks also go out to all our volunteers: Angie Ward, Heather Bouchard, Leslie Mills, Amy Sweeney, Donny Dobbs, Jarrod Flener, Charlie Sharlow, Kriff, Sparky, Ripa, Mrs. Hockey, Frank Trotter, Dwayne Mayette and Dan Kiah.
Thank you to The Pub, new owner Wade Morrill, along with Greg Conger, Joel Hockey, Bill and Kaila Perrault, Cathy Weidner, Matt Meuten, and Mike McSorley for the preparation of the fish and fries to feed everyone.
Thank you to all the people who participated in the fishing derby that day. This event could not have been possible without everyone working together with us to make it such a big success. We look forward to seeing everyone next year for the second annual, and hope that with each year it gets bigger and better.
